Sign language serves as the first and most natural language for individuals with hearing impairment, as their early modes of communication are largely nonverbal—through facial expressions, body gestures, and signs. Beyond being a medium of communication, sign language is also a powerful educational tool that significantly contributes to literacy and learning. To foster an inclusive and interactive society, it plays a vital role in eliminating communication barriers and ensuring equal participation for persons with hearing impairment.
According to the 1998 census, nearly 40% of the total disabled population in Pakistan is hearing impaired, highlighting the urgent need to address communication challenges on a large scale. The “Everyday Signs: Communicating Beyond Words” course has been designed to reduce these barriers by providing participants with foundational knowledge of advanced Pakistan Sign Language (PSL). This professional course not only equips learners to communicate effectively with persons with hearing impairment but also opens pathways toward becoming skilled sign language interpreters, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and accessible society.
After the completion of this course the participants will be able
