Introduction
The Fashion Design Foundations: From Pattern Drafting to Finished Garments certificate course is a comprehensive, beginner-friendly training program designed for individuals with no prior experience in fashion design, pattern making, or garment construction. Whether participants are exploring sewing as a hobby, preparing for further fashion education, or aspiring to start a tailoring or home-based clothing business, this course provides the essential practical skills required to confidently create garments from start to finish.
This four-week, hands-on program introduces learners to the complete garment-making process, beginning with the fundamentals of body measurements, pattern drafting, and fabric preparation, and progressing to sewing machine operation, garment construction, and professional finishing techniques.
Unlike conventional courses that teach pattern making and sewing separately, this program follows an integrated learning approach. Each class is equally divided between Pattern Drafting (2 hours) and Garment Construction (2 hours), allowing participants to immediately apply newly learned concepts through practical sewing exercises. This method reinforces understanding, strengthens technical skills, and builds confidence through continuous practice.
Throughout the course, participants will draft fundamental patterns, learn essential sewing techniques, and gradually construct a complete coordinated outfit consisting of a Straight Kurti & Trouser and a Kaftan & Trouser. By the end of the program, learners will possess the foundational knowledge and practical experience necessary to continue into advanced fashion studies or undertake basic garment-making projects independently.
